If I Were Obsessed with Jesus

I wouldn’t waste time.

I would make more art.

I wouldn’t be content to eat my fill everyday while people around me went without food.

I would adopt a child…or two or three.

I would weep over the news.

I would defend my enemy against slander.

I wouldn’t take cheap shots.

I would spend more time listening to creation…hear the trees sing, again…watch the stars dance.

I would learn to say hello in a local language.

I would memorize scriptures to get them into the pathways of my brain and heart.

I would forgive my sister…my friends…my ex-lovers…my parents…my dorm-parents…

I wouldn’t care what my new friends think of me – I would speak truth.

I wouldn’t lie awake at night worried about finances.

I would read the Bible more to find out who he really is.

I would pray with the sick and expect them to be healed.

I would make every word count.

I would take preaching seriously.

I would find my one thing and pursue it relentlessly.
